AgGaS2 Crystals

Silver Gallium Sulfide (AgGaS2, AGS) crystal is useful for the near and mid-infrared applications due to its large nonlinear optical (NLO) coefficients and high transmission in the IR region. The phase matching and transmission characteristics of AgGaS2 allow 3-wave interactions involving a very wide wavelength range in the near and mid-IR. It has been used as an efficient NLO crystal for 3 - 10 µm IR generation, particularly for OPO/OPA pumped by a Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm or a Ti:sapphire laser at 800 nm, and frequency mixing (SFG or DFG) between the signal/idler wavelengths from an OPO/OPA. AgGaS2 is also an efficient frequency doubling crystal for infrared radiation such as 10.6 μm from CO2 lasers.
Newlight Photonics offers AgGaS2 crystals with a typical aperture of 5x5 mm. Larger apertures up to 10x10 mm are available upon request. The thickness can be as small as 0.2 mm.
